Report on the Kum Yan Church Rebuilding Fund
Raising Golf Event
All praises and glory to GOD for turning our first
ever fund raising golf event to be a tremendous success... Amen.
The event, held at the Raffles Country Club on 21st
April 2006, saw a capacity crowd of some 144 golfers teeing off
simultaneously with a shotgun start at 1.30pm on that day. Rev Khoo
Cheng Hoot, President of CAC, The Methodist Churches in Singapore
graced the occasion as our Guest-of-Honor.
The golfers were treated to a quick lunch prior to
teeing off and also to a 8-course Chinese dinner after the day's
event at the banquet room. Our guests had a wonderful time of golf and
fellowship. All who stayed for the dinner event had much fun and
laughter and were also treated to special performance by our very own
KY idol, Daphne Khoo. Some of our guests even parted with their lucky
draw prizes and started a mini-auction, and in the process, raised
extra money towards our church building.

Experiencing God's Intervention at the event
For those who were at the Raffles Country Club that
afternoon, our faithful God demonstrated He is a gracious God who
answers prayers. All those who participated in the game would attest
to the excellent, "made for golf" weather that prevailed over the
Palm Course where the game was played. Some even have witnessed the
power of His presence when He not only halted an encroaching sheet of
rain but He even commanded it to turn back, towards the opposite
direction, from where it came. This in effect, created a dry oasis
within the RCC grounds while some surrounding areas such as in Jurong
and Upper Bukit Timah, were reported to be experiencing heavy rainfall
at that same time.
